Discover opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the lives of others.
Volunteering your time and talents is a great way to help others and show your support for Sertoma Centre. Join our mailing list Here and never miss a new volunteer project or event. Below are several types of remote volunteer opportunities you can do to help:
Sertoma consumers love getting mail!
If you're a volunteer with a message of support and kindness, please help us by writing a quick card or letter with that positive message. You can also send artwork (sketches, paintings, photographs)! Anything you think will brighten a consumer's day.
Be creative, have fun, and share the positive vibes. Consumers really enjoy getting mail and an encouraging note would go a long way.
Items and be sent or dropped off at:
Sertoma Centre, Inc.
Consumers-
4343 West 123rd Street

If you are dropping of items, we ask that you help us maintain social distancing and leave them in the outer reception area. Thank you.
Consider donating that "treasure" to our community programs.
We would gratefully accept new or gently used donations you no longer need. As they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." See below for a list of items we could use the most. These items are sure to entertain consumers of all abilities! Please contact us before sending items.
- Board Games
- Card Games
- Coloring Books
- Art Supplies
- Craft Supplies
- Lightly Used Books
- DVD Movies
- Music CDs
- Recreational/Sports Equipment
Gifts are even better when they're from someone who cares.
Let's Create Care Packages for Consumers!
We're looking for volunteers, either as a group or individually, that would like to make care packages for Sertoma Consumers. Our Residential Team provides services to numerous individuals living independently. These consumers are also struggling with boredom and the stress of isolation. If anything is going to brighten their mood, it's going to be a hand made Care Package by a volunteer friend.
Some items we think would be nice to have in a care package are: puzzles, books, games (for 1-2), craft kits, DVD’s and grocery store gift cards. We recommend creating gender-neutral care packages. We greatly appreciate your generosity!
We Need your help to Prevent CUTS to Community Services in FY21 During a Pandemic!!!
The COVID pandemic has caused many issues throughout the state, which is especially true for Illinois’ already underfunded social safety net, of which Sertoma Centre is a part. Let your legislators know that you support Sertoma Centre and facilities like us, so when it comes time to vote for the FY 21 budget, they will support the I/DD Bills- SB 3269 / HB 5074, and BH Bill - SB 3385. These bills ask for rate increases for these incredibly essential services.
Please ask our Illinois legislators to support HB 4884/SB 3638, which will help many Illinoisans with I/DD live their lives with more independence, and so that those caring for others during this challenging time can make a living wage.
