Providing a learning pathway for you
Sertoma’s redesigned Community Day Services program provides Consumers with options that align with their individual needs and preferences. These include:
- activities and curriculum that focus on engagement in the community
- experiential learning opportunities
- skill-building programs that integrate independent living and employment
Consumers choose sessions from a catalog to develop a schedule that meets their individual needs and interests. Schedules change on a rotating basis for truly customized learning.

C.L.A.S.S. – Community Life and Social Skills*
Community-centered immersive learning experiences
Get involved! Connect to the community through volunteering, services activities, and utilizing local resources. • Stay active! Learn to stay fit and healthy while having fun. • Make art! Engage in the arts through music, sculpture, and painting, in a variety of interactive experiences. • Get employed! Explore careers, prepare for interviews, gain on-the-job training and skills. • Have fun! Enjoy leisure activities such as sports, social activities, and dining. • Be safe! Gain independence by accessing transportation and improving street smarts and safety away from home.
*CLASS enrollment is open to consumers in limited geographic areas including Alsip, Blue Island, south Chicago, Evergreen Park, and Homewood Flossmoor.
On-site
Small groups in a traditional setting at Sertoma’s 123rd Street location Designed to be a curriculum rotation that focuses on independent living skills, recreation, employment readiness, social skills, and pre-planned community activities. Assistance with personal care, accessibility, and modified diets will be provided.
Virtual
Provided in the home using a e-learning platform.
The instructor-led curriculum consists of rotating 8-week sessions in various areas, including relaxation, culinary skills, leisure and social, topic discussions, fitness, and many more. Use as a stand-alone service or along with in-person services.
Sertoma will following COVID-19 guidance and protocols so we may serve our community at the safest possible levels. Programming may be affected and we will give updates as necessary.
