Our inaugural Lunch n’ Learn featured experts from Sertoma’s Community Mental Health and. Counseling Services. The panelists answered common questions about mental illness and shared perspectives on care, stigma, and recovery.
The podcast was moderated by Lauren Finnegan, Director of Clinical Program Services at Sertoma. Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor specializing in therapy for those living with mental illness or substance use and addictions.
Panelists included:
– Sara Weimeyer, PsyD, specializes in mental health administration with specialties in various therapies and counseling techniques to support those with severe and persistent mental illnesses and individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor and a board-certified music therapist. She is the Sertoma Centre’s Assistant Executive Director and its previous Director of the Community Mental Health and Counseling programs.
– Kirk Hanson, Senior Director of Sertoma’s Community Mental Health and Counseling division, holds a Master’s in Community Counseling specializing in school counseling and community, crisis, and outreach services. He has a passion for working with the homeless population and has led Sertoma’s efforts in this area for the past three years.
– Gia Washington, Director of Community Education, is a master’s level Clinical Professional Counselor and Mental Health Educator with extensive experience in group and individual counseling and training diverse populations. Gia is an award-winning trainer of Mental Health Awareness, leads a Mental Health First-aid course popular with many first responders, and is the host of the podcast The Elephant in the Room: The Truth and Myths about Mental Illness.
– Ashley Schehr, Assistant Clinical Program Manager, is a mental health professional specializing in working with those living with mental illness and an intellectual/developmental disability. Ashley has a passion for helping others to achieve their highest potential in life. She holds a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Olivet Nazarene University.
